x+y=6

x=6-y

substitute the above equation in x+2y=4

6-y+2y=4

6+y=4

y=-2

x+y=6

x+-2=6

x=8

Answer:

x+2y=4

x+y=6

so y=6-x

put y value in first equation then x+2(6-x)=4

x+12-2x=4

12-x=4

so x=8

y=6-x=6-8=-2

so x=8,y=-2;
