-time to go = 2.5 seconds
-time to come = 2.5 seconds
-total time = 5 seconds
-distance = 3625 m
-speed of sound in water = distance covered by sound /time.
= 3625/2.5
= 1450 m/s.
;the speed of sound is 1450 m/s

AnswEr:

Given,

  • t = 5s

  • Distance between submarine object = 3625 m

  • Distance travelled by sound = 3625 \times 2 = 1250 m

 \tt \:Speed = \cancel\frac{7250}{5} \\ \\ \tt = 1450 \: m \: per \: sec.

SONAR stands for sound device and navigation and ranging. It is a device which is used to find distance, direction and sound of underwater objects.

• It consists of a transmeter and a receptor or detector installed at the bottom of a ship.

The transmeter produces and transmits ultra - sonic waves. These waves travel through water and after striking the objects on the bottom of the sea are reflected back and received by detector.
