Since v = 2d/t

= d = v*t / 2

= d = 1500 * 4.4 /2

= 3300m

= 3.3km.

Hope it's helpful to u.

Answer:

The distance of the submarine from the sonar is 3300 meters.

Explanation:

We will use the following formula to solve this question,

d=\frac{vt}{2}         (1)

Where,

d=the distance of the submarine from the sonar

v=speed of sound

t=total time taken by the echo

From the question we have,

The time that is taken by the echo to return(t)=4.4 seconds

The speed of sound in water(v)=1500m/s

By placing the value of "v" and "t" in equation (1) we get;

d=\frac{1500\times 4.4}{2}

d=3300\ meters

Hence, the distance of the submarine from the sonar is 3300 meters.
