The Relation Between the frequency of the sonometer wire and the tensions are given below:-

f ∝ √T

So,

f1/f2 = √t1/t2 ⇒  500/400 = √t1/t2 ⇒ √t2 = 4/5√t1

⇒ t2 = 16t1/25

so,

t1-t2= t1-16t1/25 = 9t1/25

therefore,

f/f' = √t1/t2 ⇒ f' = f√t'/t ⇒ f' = 500 x √9t1/25 /t1

⇒f'= 500 x √9/25 ⇒ 500 x 3/5

f'= 300HZ

this is your answer
