a sound is produced at one end of a long Steel rail two distinct sound are observed on the other end of this rail why the time gap between this sounds is found to be 0.35 second what is the length of the rail speed of sound in air 330 metre per second speed of sound in steel 5100 per second

Answer:

Let the length of the rail be L

then

time taken by sound in the rail = L/5100 = t ^1

time taken by sound out of the rail = L/330 = t^2

t^2 - t^1 = 0.35

= L/5100 - L/330

L = 123.5 m
