Given:-

→ Frequency of the wave = 1000 Hz

→ Wavelength = 50 cm

→ Distance = 500 m

To find:-

→ Time taken by the sound wave to travel given distance.

Solution:-

Firstly, let's convert the unit wavelength from cm to m.

⇒ 1 cm = 0.01 m

⇒ 50 cm = 50(0.01)

⇒ 0.5 m

_______________________________

Let's calculate the speed of sound the wave. We have the formula :-

υ = νλ

⇒ υ = 1000(0.5)

⇒ υ = 500 m/s

Now, we know that :-

Time = Distance/Speed

⇒ Time = 500/500

⇒ Time = 1 second

Thus, the sound wave will take 1 second to travel a distance of 500 m.

Given :

  • → Frequency of wave (f) = 1000Hz
  • → Wavelength of wave (λ) = 50 cm

Need To Find :

  • → Time taken by wave to travel distance of 500 metre

Formula to be Used :

  • → u = vλ
  • →bTime = Distance / Speed

Understanding the concept :

For solving this question wrong have to just apply simple physics formula [ u = vλ ] . After putting Value in formula we can easily calculate the Time taken by wave to travel distance of 500 metre !

Required Conversation of unit :

  • → 50 cm into metre
  • → 50 / 100 = 0.5 m

Putting value in Formula :

→ u = vλ

→ u = 1000 × 0.5

u = 500 m/s

According to Question :

→ Time = Distance / Speed

→ T = D / S

→ T = 500 / 500

T = 1 second

Therefore :

→ Time taken by wave to travel distance of 500 metre will be 1 second
