Given :

Frequency of sound wave = 250 Hz

Speed = 340 m/s

To Find :

The wavelength of the sound wave in air

Solution :

The relation between Frequency , wavelength and velocity is given by ,

\begin{gathered} \\ \star \: \Large{\boxed{\purple{\sf{ \lambda = \frac{ v}{f} }}}} \\ \\ \end{gathered}

Here ,

λ is wavelength

f is frequency

v is velocity

We have ,

v = 340 m/s

f = 250 Hz = 250 s⁻¹ {∵ 1s⁻¹ = Hz}

Substituting the values we have ,

\begin{gathered} \\ : \implies \sf \: \lambda = \frac{340\:ms^{-1}}{250\:s^{-1}} \\ \\ \end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}\\ :\implies \sf\:\lambda=1.36\:ms^{-1}\times s\\ \\\end{gathered} </p><p>:⟹λ=1.36ms

\begin{gathered} \\ : \implies{\underline{\boxed{\pink {\mathfrak{\mathfrak{\lambda \: = 1.36 \: m}}}}}} \: \bigstar \\ \\ \end{gathered}

Hence ,

\bold \red{The \:  wavelength \:  of \:  the \:  sound  \: wave \:  in  \: air  \: is  \: 1.36 m}

ANSWER

Given, (In air)

Velocity V=340m/s

Frequency f=20,000Hz

Wavelegth λ=?

V=f.λ

λ=

F

V

=

20,000

340

=0.017Hz

Also, Given (in Water)

Velocity, V=1480m/s

Frequencyf=20,000Hz

wavelength, λ=?

V=F.λ

λ=

F

V

=

20,000

1480

=0.074Hz
