speed = frequency * wavelength

339 = frequency * 1.5m

frequency = 339/1.5

               =  226 Hz

yes it is audile as the range of audile sound is 20 Hz -20KHz.

Your question

A sound wave travel at a speed of 339 M/S if its wavelength is 1.5 cm what is the frequency of the wave ?

Your answer ,

Given ,

  • Speed of the sound wave = 339 m / s

  • Wavelength of the sound wave = 1.5 cm

Converting the value of wavelength of sound wave into metres ,

So ,

  • Sound wave's wavelength = 1.5 cm
  • = 1.5 / 100 = 0.015 metres

Now ,

We can find frequency of sound wave easily by the formula ,

  • Frequency = Velocity / Wavelength

  • Frequency = 339 / 0.015 ( m / ms )

  • Frequency = 22.6 kHz or 22600 Hz

Also this sound wave isn't in the range of frequency for human is 20 Hz to 20000 Hz or 20 kHz.
