Solution : A singe wave contain 1 compression and 1 rarefaction.

Therefore, in 40 waves there will be 40 compressions and 40 rarefactions.

So number of waves produced = 40 waves

Since frequency is number of waves produced per second.

So, frequency = No. of waves / Time taken

Frequency = 40 / 0.4

Frequent = 400/4 = 100 Hz

Answer : 100 Hz

The frequency of the wave is 100 hertz (Hz).

Additional information:-

The number of vibration in a second is called frequency.

Its SI unit is Hertz.
