A source produces 12 waves in 3 sec. The distance between a crest and a consecutive trough is 6cm.
Find (a) frequency (b) wavelength (c) velocity of wave​

i)- 4 hz

ii)- 12 cm

iii)- 48 cm

EXPLANATION

i)- No. Of waves in 3s= 12

No. Of waves in 1s=12÷3=4

(Frequency is the no. Of waves per second)

Thus, frequency=4Hz

ii)- Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive crest or trough

Distance between crest and trough=6cm (half the wavelength)

Wavelength=12cm

Wave Velocity=frequency*wavelength

                        =  f ×  

                        =  4 × 12

                         = 48 cm/s

                          =0.48 m/s

So the velocity of wave is 48 cm/s
