Spaceships have enormously high speeds and when they interact with the atmosphere, air resistance(in other words, friction,) is produced in huge amounts which causes it to heat up. That is why a lot of parts of the spaceships are ejected in space itself so that contact area is minimised and not much damage is produced to the spaceship.

Answer:

spaceships enter the Earth's atmosphere at a very high speed. therefore, friction due to air is also huge. due to this, the temperature of these spaceships rises to a very high level

to protect spaceships from burning during entry from space to Earth's atmosphere, they're provided with a heat shield.
