Given

  • Perpendicular Distance = 0.5 m
  • Force = 5 N

To Find

  • Moment of force

Solution

☯ τ = Fd

  • Where F is the force applied and D is the perpendicular distance from the fixed point

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

According to the Question :

➞ τ = Fd

➞ τ = 5 × 0.5

➞ τ = 5 × 50 × 10⁻²

➞ τ = 2.5 Nm

∴ The moment of force is 2.5 Nm

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Know More

  • The moment of force is also called as the Torque
  • It is represented by the Greek letter tau (τ)
  • SI unit of torque is Nm

Given:-

\bigstarA spanner of length 0.5 m is used to open a nut by applying a minimum force of 5.0 N

To Find:-

\bigstarCalculate the moment of force required?

Solution:-

\bigstarWe are given that, A spanner of length 0.5m and it is used to open a nut by the applying minimum force of 5.0 N .To Calculate the moment of force required, We are using formula:

\hookrightarrow { \underline{ \boxed{ \sf \bigstar \: {Moment  \: force = Distance \:   \times  \: Force   \: \bigstar}}}}

  \\ \hookrightarrow \sf \: Moment \: force = \tt \: 0.5 \times 5.0

  \\ \hookrightarrow \sf \: Moment \: force = \tt \: 0.5 \times 5.0

  \\ \hookrightarrow \sf \: Moment \: force = \tt \: 2.5

\bigstarHence, the moment force required is 2.5 Newton meter.
