A specific heat capacity of a substance A is 3800 J/KG.k. and that of a substance B is 400 J/KG.k.which of the two substances is a good conductor of heat? Give reason for your answer?

• Here the reason for substance B is that, Substance B is good conductor of heat. Less is the specific heat capacity of a substance the better it acts as a conductor.

• But substance A is good conductor but less than Substance B because less is the specific heat capacity of a substance is not better it acts as a conductor.

Ans:

A will need more heat energy to raise itself to the same temperature as compared to B. Thus, A will need more time to take up that much amount of heat energy than B. Hence, B will acquire that  same temperature quickly and start passing it on. Thus B is a better conductor.
