  1. Once fertilized, the egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. It becomes a ball of cells over time, then develops in the uterus of the female to become a baby.
  2. If fertilization does not occur, the egg withers away and the thick cell lining of the uterus gets removed and discharges the contents through the birth canal. This process is referred to as menstruation.
  • If fertilization occurs, uterus receives the zygote. The embryo gets implanted in the lining of the uterus.
  • If fertilization does not occur, the thick lining of the uterus breaks down and comes out through the vagina in the form of blood and mucous.

Hope it helps !!

1. If the egg is fertilized;

  • Pregnancy is the event that takes place when the egg gets fertilized.

2. If the egg is not fertilized;

  • Menstruation is the event that takes place when the egg does not get fertilized.

3. Changes taking place within the uterus;

  • During pregnancy, the uterus grows in size and undergoes many changes to accommodate the developing fetus.
  • During menstruation, the thick lining of the uterus ruptures, and this along with the unfertilized egg and blood tissues exits out of the body through the vagina.
