Answer:

ghatasthapna

Explanation:

On the first day of the Ashwin month as per marathi calendar, ghatastahapana is done. Starting with this day, nine-day and nine-night festival is celebrated called as Navratra.

On the first day clay idols of goddess Durga are placed at home and kalash pooja is done. Also ‘ghata’ (घट) is placed and worshipped. Container made up of bamboo is taken and some sand and soil is placed in it. Wheat or barley seeds are sown in it. This is placed near the Kalash. For kalash pooja, fresh silver or bronze or copper or earthen pot is taken and is filled upto its neck with holy water and five leaves of Mango or Betel (विडा) is placed around the neck from inside. Kalash is decorated with haldi, chandan, kumkum. Coconut is placed on the leaves and pooja of coconut is also performed by applying haldi-kumkum.

It is said that these nine days and nights god is asleep, so no pooja of God at home is done for these nine days and hence on the first day all idols of God in pooja room are also place on leaves of Betel.

Diya is lighten up and is kept for whole nine days and nights uninterrupted.

Daily flower garland and some water is offered to Ghat till the end of festival. And on one of the day chain of Puri (पुरी) or Kadakani (कडाकनी) is made and offered. Oti (ओटी) is offered to Goddess.

On the ninth day naivedya of Puran Poli is made and offered to Goddess.

Devotees inclucing Men,Women, Children observe fasts for nine days, some people observe fast on 1st and 8th day.

Devotees visit temples of goddess durga, laxmi, saraswati.

Some devotees do not wear any leather made products such as shoes, belts for these nine days.

During these days in the evening/night Garba is performed by many people.

At the end of Navratri the seeds sown reach a height of 3-5 inches. These are pulled out and given to devotees as form of blessings to married women (Suhasini) and Women place this in their hair.

In some parts of maharashtra, seeds are not sown they are kept dry in the container.
