Good morning, honorable Principal, teachers and my dear friends. I'm _____ and this morning I want to express my views about the changes I want to see in our English syllabus. Egnlish is a global language and its importance can't be denied as it can very well be called 'A gateway to understanding the world. With most research and content at the advanced level of technology as well as scientific learning are presented via this language only.

Now, the question arises that how our students should be raised to that level of understanding and competence. The answer, without any arguments, comes as - by changing the framework of English syllabus right from the school level, so as to hone their language skills. Especially where English is learned as Second Language, the task may be challenging. So, the learner should be given the learning experiences of learning the language as he learns his mother tongue. They should include, initially, a lot of listening and exposure to grasp. A balance of all the four skills should be included for learners.

At the higher level, it should prepare the student for international studies. The syllabus can also include exchange programs with the countries where English is a native language. Similarly, to develop a flair for the language, students should be exposed to classics and contemporary literature. For the wholesome learning, learners should be expected to participate in discourses, debates, declamation, and recitation. Creating their own pieces of writing also proves to be encouraging for the students.

I conclude my speech with a hope that we are able to bring a change in the syllabus to see a better impact. Thank you for being a patient audience.
