Heya !!

Here's the answer!!!

The sperm (gamete ) of an Alligator has 16 chromosomes.

The gamete is formed by the meiosis (reduction division) .

Hence,it is haploid in condition.

Therefore, n =16

But the cells of stomach are diploid in condition.

Hence , 2n = 2 ×16 =32 .

Therefore, the number of chromosomes in the cell of the stomach of the alligator is 32.

Hence ,option (C) is correct

Hope this helps you :)

Answer:

Option (C) - 32

Explanation:

Given that;

A sperm cell of an alligator has 16 chromosomes.

Basically, a germ cell (sperm or egg cell) is n.

Here, n = 16 chromosomes.

Now, the stomach cell, which is a somatic cell, is 2n.

If we substitute,

2n = 2 (16) = 32

Germ cells have gametes while somatic cells have chromosomes.

Hence, the total number of chromosomes normally present in a stomach cell of this alligator is 32.
