A sphere A of mass 1 kg moving along x-axis
with a velocity of 2.0 m s collides with
another sphere B of 0.5 kg initially at rest. After
collision, sphere A moves with a velocity of
1.0 ms'in a direction making an angle of 60°
with X-axis. What is the velocity of sphere B?

apply along the X-axis
(Total linear momentum before)=
(Total linear momentum after)
Take velocity of B as v m/s
1kg×2m/s+ 0.5kg× 0 m/s=
1kg×1m/s×cos 60°+0.5kg× v
2 kg m/s=0.5 kg m/s+ 0.5vkg
2-0.5 kg m/s / 0.5 kg= v
3 m/s= v ,along the X-axis
Hope this helps.
