A sphere has a radius of 4 inches, and a cube-shaped box has an edge length of 7.5 inches. J.D. says the box has a greater volume, so the sphere will fit in the box. Is he correct? Explain

Answer:

volume of sphere = 4/3πr 3

= 4/3x3.14x4^3=268cm3

volume of cube box=7.5^3=422em3

Edge of the cube = 7.5cm

Diameter of the sphere 8cm

so the sphere will not fit in the box
