Answer:

The height of the image of the sphere is 0.5 cm.

Explanation:

Given,

A sphere has a radius of 1 cm at a distance of 50 cm from a convex lens. Also, the focal length of the lens is 10cm.

To find,

Height of the image of the sphere.

Solution,

The radius of the sphere(r) = 1 cm

So, the diameter of the sphere(h)=2 cm.

Object distance(u)=-50cm

Here, we have the focal length of the convex lens(f)=10 cm

According to the lens formula,

1/v-1/u=1/f

1/v-1/(-50)=1/10

1/v=1/10-1/50

1/v=(5-1)/50

1/v=4/50

v=25/2=12.5 cm

Magnification of the lens=v/u

=12.5/50

=1/4

Also, the Magnification of lens=h'/h

where he is the height of the image and h is the height of the object.

1/4=h'/2

h'=1/2cm

The height of the image is 0.5 cm.
