A sphere of mass m is kept in equilibrium with the
help of several springs as shown in the figure.
Measurements show that one of the springs applies
a force 7 on the sphere. With what acceleration the
sphere will move immediately after this particular
spring is cut?
1) zero
(2) F/m
(3) -F/m
(4) insufficient information

Given that,

Mass of sphere = m

Force = F

We know that,

According to figure,

If the particular  spring is cut then the sphere will move in the opposite  direction to the applied force.

So, the force will be -F.

We need to find the acceleration of the sphere

Using newton's second law

F=ma

a=\dfrac{F}{m}

Where, F = force

m = mass

a = acceleration

Put the value into the formula

a=\dfrac{-F}{m}

Hence, The acceleration of the sphere is \dfrac{-F}{m}

(3) is correct option.
