Answer ⇒ There is accurately no point on the sphere that has the velocity vector pointing in the vertical direction.

In Practical measurements, At the points very near to the point which is in contact at the instant has a nearly vertical velocity with a very small magnitude.

Just at the contact point, when the velocity becomes true vertical, its magnitude becomes zero.

Hence, we can not say that a vertical velocity.

Hope it helps.

Resolving the component of the velocity in the Vertical Direction we get,

Velocity x Sin90 ( Angle between Horizontal and Vertical)

Sin90 = 0

∴ Velocity in vertical direction is 0
