focal length of spherical mirror is 12cm .

A spherical mirror produce three times larger real image of an object.

so, mirror is concave in nature.

as image is real so, magnification of mirror would be m = -3 [ as we know real image is inverted so magnification of mirror would be negative ]

given, u = -16 cm

as we know, m = -v/u = -3

⇒-v/-16cm = -3

⇒v = -48cm

now using mirror formula, 1/f = 1/v + 1/u

⇒1/f = 1/-48 + 1/-16

= 1/-48 - 3/48

= -4/48

= -1/12

f = -12cm

hence, focal length of spherical mirror is 12cm
