a spherical solid ball of mass 1 kg mass and radius 3cm is rotating about an axis passing through its centre with an angular velocity of 50 rad sec kE of rotation is in dis question for getting the ans we have to use formula 25 mr sqr and this formula is used when moment of inerita passes through centre and perpendicular to axis so how do we understand frm the question that we have to use this formula ???and not the formula which is used for parallel axis

Answer:

IN the kinetic energy relation we have to use the moment of inertia.

about its primary axis that is Ic = 2/5 mr^2.Parallel axis theorem is being used for the case where the sphere is not rotating about its primary axis, and we have to find out the moment of inertia about an Axis at the edge of a diameter . So as the sphere is rotating about its primary axis, we have to consider the moment of inertia about that only .
