A spoon of table salt, NaCl contains 12.5grams of this salt. Calculate the number of moles it contains.

• Given mass of compound = 12.5 g

Molar mass of compound:

=> M = m₁ + m₂

=> M = 23+ 35.45

=> M = 58.45 g/mole

Number of moles:

=> n = (Given mass)/(molar mass)

=> n = (12.5)/(58.45)

=> n = 0.213 moles
