We know that water is a liquid and it's particles have some gap between them,

When sugar is added to water then sugar dissolve and occupy the gap

So there is no effect on water level because sugar particles are observed in gap of water particles

(a) Sugar is dissolved in water

(b) Particles of sugar filled in the gaps between the particles of water.

(c) No, there is no change in level of water.

This activity shows that,

Matters are made of small particles. And there is space between these particles.
