Given mass of the object m = 10 kg

Force constant k = 10 N/m

Velocity  u = 40 cm/s  = 0.4 m/s and

Amplitude a = 0.5 m

To determine the displacement x = ?

We know,

u = ω√(a² - x²) -------(A) ; here ω = angular velocity = √(k/m)

Solving for angular velocity we get,

ω = √(k/m) = √(10/10) = 1 ------(B)

Putting the value of B in A we get,

0.4 = 1√(0.5² - x²)

x² = 0.5² - 0.4² = 0.9

x = 0.3 m
