The work done in stretching the spring is stored  as P.E. in the spring given by \sf{E=\dfrac{1}{2}kx^{2}}

where k is the spring constant and x is the length through which the spring is stretched.

Given,

x = 0.1 m

E = 4 J

Putting values in the above formula, we get:-

Spring constant, K = 800 N/m
