A square and a rectangle have equal area. If a side of a square is 24cm and the length of the rectangle is 32 cm, find: (i) the breadth of the rectangle. (ii) the perimeter of the rectangle.

One side of square =24cm

Length of rectangle =32cm

Area of square =side×side =24×24=576cm^2

Area of rectangle =length×breadth

Let the breadth be 'b'

i)Area of rectangle=area of square

32×b=576^2

b=576/32=18

breadth of rectangle =18cm

ii)Length of rectangle =32cm

Breadth of rectangle =18cm

Perimeter =2×(l+b)=2×(32+18)=2×50=100cm
