Answer:

Length = 9 cm, breadth = 2cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Let side of square be x

length of rectangle = 3+x

breadth = b

Area of square = (x)²

=> 36 =  (x)²

=> x = 6 cm

length of rectangle = 9 cm

area of rectangle 2(lb)

36 = 2(9×b)

36/18 = b

b = 2 cm

Given :-

A square and a rectangle have the same area of 36 cm².

Solution :-

i.) Area of square = 36 cm²

=> Area of square = (side)²

=> 36 cm² = (side)²

=> \sqrt{36\:cm^{2} } = side

=> 6 cm = side

ii.) Length of the rectangle is 3 cm more than the side of the square i.e.,

Length of the rectangle

= 3 cm + the side of the square

= 3 cm + 6 cm

= 9 cm

=> Area of the rectangle = 36 cm²

=> Length x Breadth = 36 cm²

=> 9 cm x Breadth = 36 cm²

=> Breadth = \frac{36\:cm^{2} }{9\:cm}

=> Breadth = 4 cm

Answer :-

Side of the square = 6 cm

Length of the rectangle = 9 cm

Breadth of the rectangle = 4 cm

More to know:-

\star Perimeter of square = 4 x side

\star Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length + Breadth)

\star Diagonal of rectangle = \sqrt{(Length)^{2}+(Breadth)^{2} }

\star Diagonal of square = \sqrt{2} \times side
