Diagram:-

Given:-

  • A square and a rectangular field with measurements as given in the figure have the same perimeter.

To find:-

  • Find the field has a large area. ...?

Solutions:-

  • A square of side is 60m.
  • A rectangle of length is 80m.

Perimeter of square = 4(side square)

= 4 × 60m

= 240m.

Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

= 2(80m + breadth)

= 160m + 2 × breadth

The perimeter of the square and the rectangle are same.

⟹ 160m + 2 × breadth = 240m

⟹ 2 × breadth = 240m - 160m

⟹ 2 × breadth = 80m

⟹ breadth = 80m/2

⟹ breadth = 40m.

Area of square = (side)²

= (60m)²

= 3600m²

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

= 80m × 40m

= 3200m²

Hence, the area of the square field is larger than the area of the rectangular field.
