A square and an equilateral triangle have equal perimeters. If a side of the triangle is 3 cm longer than a side of the square, find the length of a side of the square.

let x = side of a triangle

hence
3(3+x)= 4x
or 9+3x=4x
or 9=x
Hence length of a side of the sq = 9-3
=6
