Question

A square and the a rectangle have the same perimeter calculate the area of the rectangle if the side of square is 60 cm and the length of the rectangle is 8 cm.

Solution

We know,

 \rightarrow That perimeter of square is 4× side

 \because perimeter of square is 4× 60 = 240 cm

Given that,

Perimeter of Square is Equal to Perimeter of Rectangle

 \because = 2(l+b)=240

= l+b=120

= 80+ b= 120

 \because b= 40 cm.

Aea of square = {side}^{2}

Area of Square = 60×60

 \because {3600 cm}^{2}

Area of Rectangle = Lenght × Breadth

Area of Rectangle = 80× 40={3200 cm}^{2}

 \because The Square area is more by

= 3600-3200= {400 cm}^{2}
