Answer:

a²+b² = 9

ab = 4

we know that

(a+b)² = a² + b² +2ab

= 9+2(4)

= 17

a+b = root 17

we also know that

(a-b)² = a² +b² - 2ab

= 9 - 2(4)

= 1

a-b = 1

= 3(a+b)² - 2(a-b)²

= 3(root 17)² - 2(1)²

=51-2

=49

49 is the correct answer
