Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Side of square carpet= 5m

Length of the rectangle = 5m 50 cm

Breadth of the rectangle = 6m

To find:

Area of floor which is not carpeted.

Solution:-

Find the area of rectangle:-

Convert the length of rectangular floor into m.

500+50=550 cm

500/100=5.5 m

Area of rectangle= length × breadth

= 5.5 × 6

= 33 sq.m

Area of floor is 33 sq.m

Area covered by the carpet:

Find the area of the square-

Area of square = Side × Side

= 5 × 5

= 25 sq.m

Area covered by the carpet is 25 sq.m

Area which is not carpeted:

Subtract the area of carpet from area of floor-

Area of carpet = 25 sq.m

Area of floor = 33 sq.m

= Area of carpet - Area of floor

= 25 - 33

= 8 sq.m

Area of the floor that is not carpeted is 8 sq.m
