Given:

A square floor has a side of 5m

To Find:

The number of square tiles can be laid on the floor if the side of each tile is 5cm.

Solution:

Side of square floor = 5m

Area of square =  side x side

So, Area of the floor = (5 x 5) = 25m²

1 m² = 10, 000cm²

So, Area of the floor = 25 x 10000 = 250000 cm²

Now, side of the given square tile = 5 cm

Area of the tile = (5 x 5) = 25 cm²

Now, Number of the tiles requitred(N) = Area of the floor / Area of the tile

        N = (250000 / 25) = 10000

Hence, the number of tiles required is 10000.
