area of both path

area = (l × b) × 2

area = 35 cm × 2.5 cm × 2

area = 175cm²

area of middle part where both road meet

area = side × side

area = 2.5 cm × 2.5cm

area = 6.25cm²

area of path = 175cm² - 6.25cm² = 168.75cm²
