Given :

Length of square of garden = 100 m

Length of pool = 28 m

Find :

Area of garden around the pool.

Solution :

Area of square = side × side

According to question,

Length of garden = 100 m

Means, side of garden is 100 m.

So,

Area of garden = 100 × 100

=> 10000 m²

Similarly,

Length of pool = 28 m

Means, side of pool is 28 m.

Area of pool = 28 × 28

=> 784 m²

Now, pool is in the centre of a square garden.

So,

Area of garden around the pool = Area of garden - Area of pool

=> 10000 - 784

=> 9216 m²

9216 m² is the area of garden around the pool.

Length of the side of square garden=100m

Area of the square garden=side²

=100×100

=10000m²

Length of the side of the swimming pool=28m

Area of the pool=Area of a square=side ×side

=28×28

=784

Area of the garden around the pool.

=10000-784

=9216m²
