Given :

  • Perimeter of Square = Perimeter of Triangle
  • Sides of triangle measures :-
  • Length of the triangle = 14 cm
  • Breadth of the triangle = 6 cm
  • Height of the triangle = 12 cm

To find :

  • Length of the side of the square

Solution :

Using formula,

Perimeter of triangle = Sum of all the sides

Substituting the given values,

⇒ Perimeter = 14 + 6 + 12

⇒ Perimeter = 32

Perimeter of triangle = 32 cm

Perimeter of triangle = Perimeter of square

∴ Perimeter of square = 32 cm

Using formula,

Perimeter of square = 4 × side

Substituting the given values,

⇒ 32 = 4 × side

⇒ 32/4 = side

⇒ 8 = side

Therefore, side of the square = 8 cm

Let's verify :-

Substituting the value of side in 32 = 4 × side

Taking Rhs,

⇒ 4 × side

⇒ 4 × 8

⇒ 32

Lhs = Rhs

32 = 32

Hence, verified.

EXPLANATION

Perimeter of triangle =

(sum of all sides)

Then,

= (14 + 6 + 12) cm

= 32 cm

So, the perimeter of triangle is 32 cm.

And, according to question the perimeter of square is equal to the perimeter of triangle.

So, Perimeter of square = 32 cm

Now,

We know, Perimeter of square =

= (4 × side)

= 4 × side = 32

= side = 32 ÷ 4

= side = 8 cm

Hence, side of square is 8 cm

PROVE

We know that all sides are equal in square.

So, (8 + 8 + 8 + 8) cm = 32 cm
