~Area of shaded region
= Area of square - Area of circle

~Area of square = s x s
= 14 x 14
= 196cm^2
~Area of circle = πr^2
- D = 14cm
- r = 14/2 = 7
= 22/7 x 7 x 7
= 22 x 7
= 154cm^2
____________________________
~Area of shaded region
= 196 - 154
= 42cm^2
