A square is made inside the circle. Find the area of that portion of the circle which is not inside the square, if the radius of the circle is 10 cm. (pie = 3.14 )

If the Square is made inside the circle then

(Diameter of the Circle)^2 = (Side 1 of Square)^2 + (Side 2 of square)^2 [Pythagoras Theorem]

•°• (20)^2 = x^2 + x^2

•°• 400 = 2x^2

•°• 400/2 = x^2

•°• 200 =x^2

x = 10 \sqrt{2}

•°• Area of the Circle = pie r^2

=3.14 × 10^2

= 314 sq.cm

•°• Area of Square = (side)^2

= 200 sq.cm

•°• Area of the portion of the circle which is not inside the square = 314-200 = 114 sq.cm
