area of lawn = total area of lawn including wide path- area of path

area of path ( given) =136 sq m

total area of lawn including path =  (side)2......... area of square formula

let side of lawn is 'x'

side of lawn including path =    x + 2 ( path )

                                              =   x+ 2(2)

                                              = x+ 4

area of lawn = total area of lawn including wide path- area of path

x^2 =(x+2)^2   -  136

x^2 = x^2  + 4x + 4 -136

by solving above eq we get x= 33

therefore x^ 2 is 1089

therefore area of lawn is 1089 sq m
