A square of side 10 cm has its corner cut off. the corners are square of side 1 cm. what is the perimeter of the remaining figure?

(8*4=32) + (2*4=8) = 40cm

when we remove a square of 1 cm from each side ..we are left with 8 cm on either side
ie 4×8 = 32 cm...

however as it is in case of perimeter after cuting square we are left with 8 additional line segments
ie add 8 to previous value
we get 8+32 = 40 cm
