A square park is of side 80 m. A road of 4 m wide is made all around the park outside it. find the area of the path. also find the cost of gravelling the park at the rate of 12/square metre.

a square park of  side 80 m
length of one side of road = 80 +4+4 = 88
so,
  the area of park = s*s 
                               = 80*80 = 6400
and the area of the road = area of park - whole area

whole area = 88*88 =7744

:  area of road = 7744 - 6400 = 1344

: and the cost of graveling the park = 6400 * 12 =76,800
