A square piece of paper gets folded in half to form a rectangle and then in half again to form a second rectangle (which is not a square). The perimeter of the second rectangle is 30 cm . What is the area of the original square?

if  we assume the side of the original square to be x then its sides after folding will be x/2 and x respectively then after folding it agin and bcz its said that the resultant figure is also a rectangle therefore we will fold it along the first side hence the sides will now be x/4 and x...... perimeter of this figure is given as 30 so we will finf x which will come out to be 12cm... which is the side of the original square hence the area will be 12 x 12=144 sq.cm. hope u get it!!!
