Let the number of square tiles required be x

So,
Area of the room = Area of "x" tiles

Area of the room = Side x side = 12 x 12 = 1200 x 1200 (converted to cm) = 1440000 cm²

Area of 1 tile = 50 x 50 = 2500 cm²
Area of x tiles = 2500x cm²

Number of tiles required = 1440000/2500 = 14400/25 = 576

So 576 tiles are required

Hope This Helps You!

side of the square = 12m

area of the square = (12)^2 = 144 m^2

side of each tile = 50 cm = 50/100 m = 1/2 m

area of each tile = (1/2)^2 = 1/4 m^2

number of tiles required
=area of room/area of each tiles
=144/(1/4)
=144 x 4
=576
