Let the side of the room be x
Therefore are of the room = x^2
Each side of the room incl. the verandah = x+2+ 2
Therfore area including verandah
= (x+4)^2
From the condition we get,
(x^2 + 8x+ 16) - (x^2) = 64
=> 8x + 16 = 64
=> 8x = 64 -16
=> x =48 /8 = 6
Each side of the room = 6m
Therfore, area= (6×6) sq.m = 36 sq.m
Hope this helps.
