Suppose inner square is representing the room and outer square is representing the verandah.

Side of inner square = 12 m

Side of outer square = (12 + 3 + 3) m = 18 m

Area of outer square = 18 x 18 sq.m = 324m²

Area of inner square = 12 x 12 = 144 m²

Area of Verandah = (324 - 144) sq.m = 180 m²

Cost of constructing Verandah at the rate of 24 per sq m

= 180 x Rs 24 = Rs 4320
