Step-by-step explanation:

side of the room is 10 metre

area of the room is 10²metre²

= 100m²

area of the carpeted portion is 8²m²

= 64m²

cost of carpeting is $100x120

=$12000

area which is noncarpeted is (100-64)m²

=36m2
