A square sheet of 2cm is cut from each corner of a rectangular piece of aluminum sheet of length 12cm and breadth 8cm. Find the area of the left over aluminum sheet

Assumption: 2cm is the side of square

Area of remaining aluminium sheet=Area of original aluminium sheet - Area of removed aluminium sheet
Area of removed aluminium sheet=4*(Area of each square)
=4*(side^2)
=4*(2^2)
=4*4
=16cm^2
Area of original rectangular sheet=length * breadth
=12*8
=96cm^2
Therefore
Area of remaining (leftover) aluminium sheet=96-16
=80cm^2
